Mood Cultivation Project

The Appalachian Mountains have a long-standing history of rich musical tradition, Old Time, Bluegrass and Country music all began there and continue to flourish today. However, with "progress" comes new influence and change. This is the story of Mood Cultivation.

So, what exactly happens when hillbillies listen to Hendrix? What is the end result of country boys on Coltrane? What if The Mothership landed in the mountains? It seems there would be no choice other than to combine these elements in a manner becoming one's heritage. It was this philosophy that spawned the Mood Cultivation Project.

Davisson Brothers Band

Coming from some of the finest back porches in Appalachia, these boys have paid their dues and delighted us more than one time. Officially formed in 1995, The Davisson Brothers Band, with their back porch pickin’--high-energy shows have entertained a wide-ranging audience, performing at bluegrass festivals and state fairs to concert halls and motorcycle rallies. One thing is certain though, wherever it is they play — everyone will inevitably be dancin’ up a storm and stompin’ their feet. Touring the region from New York to Florida, playing 300+ shows a year with vast following of fans and new ones made day after day. Dedicated to expanding their talent and unique sound, the band is currently writing fresh new songs that blend Appalachian roots amid blues, country and rock, fused with down-home appeal.

Tiffany Christopher 2

Tiffany Christopher- lead vocals and guitar
Hilary Murray- violin, cello and back-up vocals
Fresh-raw-emotion mixed with eccentric energy and unique songwriting.  It's a salty sweet mixture of rock, jazz, bluegrass and pop diplayed thru vivid imagery, smoldering sexuality and impressive instrumental chops.  "Sounds so good it can make a grown man cry."

Blue Line Highway

Imagine if the migration of the 60's went to Nashville instead of San Francisco? What music might the Jefferson Airplane have played? Or...how might Rickie Lee Jones cover a Carter Family tune?
Start with big vocals on top of acoustic and electric guitars. Now...add bass and congas (sometimes)and shake for 6 minutes.
Understanding the combination of styles the members bring to the table is the story of Blue Line Highway.
Lead singer Julia Dooley is strongly influenced by classic blues and old time country like the Carter Family.
Guitar player John Leedes has many influences but
even he will describe some of his licks as being very Grateful Dead-like.
Songwriter and guitarist Melissa McKenna has obviously been listening to Joni Mitchell and Rickie Lee Jones and somehow brings a west coast feel to east coast lyrics.
Ray Alfano on bass completes the rhythm section and glues the mix together.
And sometimes when appropriate Blue Line Highway also includes percusion.
When folks hear Blue Line Highway live they generally talk about how the band can play such a variety of tunes that somehow.. all fit together so nicely.

Curly and the Rocket

  Love rocks.
Just look at electric powered duo, Curly and The Rocket. They've discovered a way to channel their love for each other into the thing they love to do most: make music, volume high.

Curly is the missus of the team. Her exotic ethnicity is enough to turn heads, but onstage is where her real assets shine: everyone loves to see a chick play drums. Curly does more. She's half a whole rock band, both singer and drummer, packed into one slender body. Wrangling the drum set while whispering and wailing into the microphone, she's a rodeo announcer riding the bull. Depicting portraits of the human experience, she sings with humor, imagination and character.
Then there's the duo's meatier half, The Rocket. Swarthy and enigmatic, he drives his guitar with an energy that charges their sound with focused aggression. Seamlessly floating from a crying southern slide solo to a lurching chunky dirge, The Rocket's sound is bluesy and driven, straddling refined and raucous.
The sum of their parts is the essence of Curly and The Rocket. No bells and whistles, just sheer talent and raw energy, stripped down to the essential basics; two people making the most of what they have together.

Uncle Eddie & Robin

Original Music for Uncle Eddie and Robin are a dynamic musical duet with a taste of the old and a flair for the new. This husband-wife team combine their voices in stunning, tight harmonies on songs that pack a punch.
The difference between a banjo player and a savings bond is that the bond will eventually mature and make money!
The difference between a banjo player and a large pizza is that the pizza can feed a family!
And always remember; time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana!

Nate Clendenen Grass Duo

Nate Clendenen is a singer/songwriter/performer born in Philadelphia, PA and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After calling the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Sydney, Australia, and Moab, Utah his home at times over the last decade, Nate has returned to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay. And of course you'll still find him... somewhere out on the endless highway.

Imgaine Toots Hibbert and Peter Rowan in a smoky jam session. Think Ramblin' Jack Elliot if he had grown up at the beach. Clendenen's influences are widely eclectic - from Reggae and world music to Appalachian folk - from 60s psychedelia to alternative country.

Nate seeks to put words to the random moments in life that one will always remember – to record his thoughts as a soundtrack of his life – to find those tiny things that often go unnoticed. This is the stuff of great art – the melody of meaningful music.

Kef

KEF is a five piece band, formed in Bethlehem PA in early 2000. Over the years they have developed a funky, earthy, bluesy style of jamrock.KEF is influenced by classic rock acts, including but not limited to the Beatles, the Doors, Led Zepplin, Neil Young and Pink Floyd. A KEF show weaves original music, improvised jams, and classic rock covers into the experience of live music.y Moon Baby blends elements of funk, rock, jazz, and world music to create a unique and exciting musical adventure.  FMB's progressive sound consists of interweaving guitar melodies fused with percussion, complimented with horns and keyboards, and bends the lines between musical genres with their compositional extravagance.  The band's performances have been known to be "an interesting blend of styles…a wholesome, down-home, friendly vibe"

Guta

Guta transcends most genres drawing from icons such as the Beatles, Steely Dan, Bob Marley, and the Grateful Dead, producing a groove and vibe of their own that does not allow you to sit still. Teddy Sablon, a true prodigy, has his own unique vocal style as well as incredible musicianship. Ted can hold his own on stage with any musicians performing today! PJ Donahue has a thumping, swirling bass style inspired by his idols Victor Wooten and Les Claypool. PJ lays down a bass line that puts the incredible "groove" in groove rock. Christian "Swine" Mara with his hard rock roots can drive the rock, punch the funk or simply add tasty fills with an ever present, steady meter. There are few bands touring today that can rival Guta when it comes to musicianship, performance and overall crowd appeal. The musicianship of this trio is only exceeded by Sablon's prolific songwriting. A breath of fresh air in a cookie cutter musical age!

Cheryl Ann Hawk

Graced with jazzy, percussive and dynamic acoustic guitar skills, rhythmic lyrics full of life and alliteration that float over intricate, catchy melodies, and a voice that saturates the senses with pleasures that can awaken, mend and nurture the soul, Cherylann Hawk has you the minute she opens her mouth, her eyes and her heart.  She is passionate and playful, sexy and sweet, beautiful and bubbly, graceful and groovy.  The music she makes is a magical blend of the styles of her influences including pop rock, jazz, folk, blues, Broadway, country and exotic rhythms.  Her shows attract an eclectic group of people of all ages and walks of life all devoted to the harmonious, honest and addicting sounds of Cherylann Hawk.

Continuum

CONTINUUM is a band attempting to push the boundaries of music by creating something distinctive and unique. It is not the painless way to go about creating music, but it makes it that much more rewarding when people enjoy the sound created.
They're attempting to challenge the way people listen to music and their notions about song structure and the way music "should" sound. The band consists of five members that don't leave well enough alone. They push and pull ideas onstage to make every song a collective and exclusive piece of art unique to that moment.
With a backbone set in the past with blues and jazz and funk, but a mind focused toward the future and the ever expanding electronic influences which are opening new possibilities to improvisation, this band is sure to impress and keep you coming back for more!!
We started out as a group of guys getting together on the weekend drinking some beers and playing some music for fun.  Eventually our innocent jam sessions on a small beach on the eastern shore of Maryland, snowballed into one of the eastern shore's most popular bands.
We started spending our own money (a lot of it) in PA gear and all kinds of electronic toys to enhance our live shows.  Our Fan base is growing rapidly which has given us high spirits and a new found love for writting music.  There is nothing but good things in the future of this band and we hope that you will agree.
